Pregnant Woman Fatally Stabbed A Day Before Her Wedding

A Brooklyn woman with eight months old pregnancy and due to be married over the weekend was found stabbed to death inside her home on Saturday morning, the police said.
The police found the victim, whom they identified as Vindalee Smith, 38, at about 9:30 a.m. lying on the floor of her house on East 94th Street in Brownsville. The child that she was carrying also died, the police said.
According to authorities, detectives were trying to find Ms. Smith’s fiancé for questioning, but gave no further information about a possible suspect or motive.
Friends and members of Ms. Smith’s church held a tearful vigil outside her house in Brooklyn all day on Saturday with prayers and hymns.
Friends of the deceased said Ms. Smith was an active member of the New Dimension Seventh-day Adventist Church on Winthrop Street. She had four children, including two who were in college, friends said.
“When she met people on the street, she always told them about the Lord,” Edith Thomas, a church member said.
Although Ms. Smith’s wedding was scheduled for Sunday, few knew much about the wedding or the groom. Mitzie Holstein, who said she was a friend, said that Ms. Smith met her fiancé, who she identified only as Anthony, a year ago. She said that he seemed quiet and possibly worked in construction.
Medical examiners brought Ms. Smith’s body out of her house around 6:30 p.m. while about 100 people gathered outside her house began singing “Amazing Grace.”

Two months till doomsday? Mayan Apocalypse set for Dec. 21

If you believe in that sort of thing, humanity can expect a mere two months left of existence before the Mayan apocalypse hits Dec. 21.

Today (Oct. 21) starts the two-month countdown toward doomsday, according to an interpretation of the Mayan Calendar that has taken hold in some New Age and spiritualist communities online.

Two ancient texts confirm the end date of the Mayan Long Count calendar on the winter solstice of this year, which is Dec. 21, 2012. That day is the last day of the 13th bak'tun, or 144,000-day cycle, of the calendar. Ancient Maya would have seen the end of the 13th bak'tun as the end of a full cycle of creation.


However, experts in Mayan history say the end of the Long Count calendar is the equivalent of needing to buy a new calendar every year in December - not a harbinger of doomsday.


"This new evidence suggests that the 13 bak'tun date was an important calendrical event that would have been celebrated by the ancient Maya; however, they make no apocalyptic prophecies whatsoever regarding the date," Marcello Canuto, the director of Tulane University Middle America Research Institute, told LiveScience after the discovery of an ancient text referring to the date.

Not all apocalypse believers think the Mayan Apocalypse will bring fire and brimstone, or extinguish life on Earth. According to John Hoopes, a scholar of Maya history at the University of Kansas, many believers see the day as a time of spiritual transformation.

Women now go more or less naked to the church – Clerics Lament

An association of Christian clerics, Akwa Ibom Clergy Forum (AICF), has expressed worries over the issue of indecent dressing in some churches in the country. The group made this known at a press conference to announce its National Prayer Summit scheduled for October 27 in Lagos.
The president of the AICF, Rev. Samuel Udo, said indecent dressing constituted a moral burden to the nation, stressing that it was one of the major reasons for the country’s backwardness. According to him, “A church is supposed to be a holy place. It should not be a place to commit sins. Churches today have turned to places of abomination.
“Women now go more or less naked to the church. Men go with earrings and other materials associated with females. It is forbidden for a man to put on what belongs to a woman, but now such things have been turned to style.” The clergy therefore, urged worshippers to be righteous in their dealing with God to avoid disaster in the country.
Another pastor, Eyo Udo, lamented that people go to church with whatever they like, without necessarily considering where they are going to.

Al Qaeda Kidnapping Children And Training Them To Become Suicide Bombers - Photo

Al Qaeda is kidnapping young children in troubled Somalia and brainwashing them to launch future terrorist attacks, it has been claimed.

The 'terrorist schools' keep the children - some as young as seven - chained up to beds while they were taught an extreme version of Islam.

The youths, all under 10-years-old, were also taught about suicide bombings and told they would go to paradise if they killed themselves in 'martyrdom-operations'.

Pictures of the locked-up children were uncovered by terror investigator Neil Doyle after authorities carried out a raid on a school in Mogadishu.

The classes, being carried out at a Islamic Boarding School, were being taught by a member of the Al Qaeda inspired Somali terrorist group Al Shabaab.

The teacher claimed that the children were in chains because they missing classes. Most of the children parents were unaware they were there.

They are following in the footsteps of other militants who target children, like the Afghan and Pakistan Taliban who regularly poison students at girls' schools and shoot teachers.'

This Sunday, we saw actress Kate Henshaw in a new light, as the biggest talent show hit Benin, Abuja and Calabar. “I’m just so emotional. I didn’t give you a chance, I judged by what I saw, it’s there I am sorry” she says to twenty six years old Jude James in Benin amidst tears.

The attendance in Benin, Abuja and Calabar was massive, the talents were impressive, and for the talentless? It was an easy task to show them the door.

Police in Rivers State Parade Aluu 4 Killers

I got these still photos from STV 10 0'Clock news. The killers were paraded today and one of them told newsmen that two police officers came to the scene of the killing; one of the policemen pleaded with them to stop, while the other one encouraged them to continue. The guy with the arrow pointed to his head is the Aluu community chief, Alhaji Hassan Walewa.

By the way, the police didn't announce that Coxson Lelebori Lucky has been found. They mentioned that two more suspects were arrested today, but didn't give names. Former Super Eagles Goal Keeper, Peter Rufai Slumps, Hospitalised

Former Super Eagles goal keeper and captain, Peter Rufai, yesterday night suddenly slumped inside his office.

The football Icon, 49, was rushed to Toki Hospital off Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere where doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize him. His younger brother Bruce Rufai said he's yet to come around and doctors don't know yet why he slumped.

Bruce told sports journalist, Kayode Tijani, that Peter has been taking the death of their 78 year old mother badly since her passing some days ago. Please say a prayer for Peter Rufai
